Mudras  or hand gestures is a practice to improve your physical, mental and spiritual well-being. In the Vedic tradition, five fingers are the five basic elements that make up the human body: air, fire, water, earth and ether. Based on this understanding, the fingers of living creatures have very concentrated roots on the nerve endings that act as free points for energy release. Touching fingertips together in different ways or in other parts of the palms canals and balances the flow of energy ( prana ) within our body, and energy travels through the nerves and stimulates the different chakras.

In Sanskrit, mudra literally means posture / sealing and has been used in various religions, arts and dance forms, yoga and meditation for a long time.

In yoga, with the help of mudras in connection with pranayama (breathing exercises), it revitalizes the flow of energy to different parts of the body. While Tibetan Buddhism, Zen Buddhism, Buddhism and Mahayana Buddhism widely used mudras during meditation.
